VVTO in Den Haag?

Apparently there are almost 600 primary schools in the Netherlands offering VVTO to their pupils. Strangely enough only about 20 of these schools are in the Den Haag region. Considering The Hague is the International City of Justice and Peace this seems somewhat strange to me. Do you have any thoughts on this subject?

Need Teacher Support?

There are already more than 500 VVTO (primary) schools in the Netherlands. That’s a very exciting development in education. Since there are very few teacher training colleges that actually offer any form of training in how to teach English, this is indeed quite amazing. How do they do that? Shouldn’t there be more teacher training and support before schools embark on such an ambitious project? Or at the very least some form of support from native speaker teachers?
